ORLANDO, Fla. – [September 1, 2021] – Dr. Phillips Charities, the community builder behind the $700-million Packing District project, has announced Publixas the grocer that will occupy the 27,512 square foot supermarket space in the Packing District, located at the northeast corner of Princeton Street and Orange Blossom Trail.
“When we began looking at the Packing District we defined success by one simple measure, bringing Publix into the district. We knew that if we had their commitment the project would be a success,” said Ken Robinson, President/CEO of Dr. Phillips Charities.
The supermarket will sit on the same location as the original Dr. Phillips packing house and will feature traditional grocery, dairy and frozen food departments along with a full-service bakery, deli, pharmacy, seafood, meat and a fresh produce department. Vertical construction is anticipated to begin mid 2022.
About The Packing District
The Packing District is a 202-acre transformational project centered at the intersection of Princeton Street and Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando, preserving and recapturing a defining part of our community’s history while providing a vibrant base of living and commerce. Historic buildings will be repurposed, integrated with new uses, and connected to dedicated public spaces by a new and bold plan for urban trails and a new 100-acre public park (gifted to the City of Orlando) dedicated to health and wellness, education, arts and community, and sustainability. Preparations began to ready the site for construction in 2018. The project will continue to mature over the next 10-15 years as laid out in the four-phase master plan.
